Neck Liposuction in Orange County

Neck Contouring

Neck liposuction is a liposuction procedure in which a conservative amount of excess fat is removed from the neck and lower face to restore a youthful angularity to the area.

Reasons to Choose Neck Liposuction

Neck liposuction is a popular procedure for men and women who struggle with surplus fatty deposits on the neck and lower face. Oftentimes, these deposits of fat can diminish the appearance of a defined jaw. Patients may often complain of having a double chin that does not respond to diet and exercise the way other parts of the body might. Neck liposuction can also correct neck bands.

Patients interested in neck liposuction should have good skin elasticity and be nonsmokers, as both of these are important to achieve an ideal result after healing. Compared to other liposuction procedures, the healing time for neck liposuction may be shorter since a small amount of fat is removed.

FAQ About Neck Liposuction in Orange County

Neck liposuction is a popular procedure and the plastic surgery team at UC Irvine often fields questions about it. Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions and answers.

How does it work?

Neck liposuction is performed after your plastic surgeon makes one of two incisions. Depending on your needs, your plastic surgeon may make an incision below your chin or a single incision on each side of your neck. These incisions will be hidden in the natural folds of your skin. Your plastic surgeon will insert a thin tube called a cannula through these incisions and will remove a conservative amount of fat. Once the ideal neck and jaw contours are achieved, your incisions will be closed with sutures and a compression garment will be applied.

What happens after surgery?

When you return home from your neck liposuction procedure, you may experience some swelling. You will likely need to wear a chin strap for a few days. This will help control swelling and maintain the new shape of your neck and jaw. After a week or so, your sutures will be removed and much of the swelling will have faded. As any residual signs of surgery fade, you may want to wear scarves or high-necked clothing.
