Breast reconstruction improves the quality of life and self image of many women who lose one or both breasts due to cancer or other illness. This procedure creates a new breast that will look and feel natural.
In many cases, surgical reconstruction can be done immediately after mastectomy or lumpectomy, so a woman will not have to wake up with no breast at all. Some women, however, prefer to wait awhile before undergoing more surgery. Nipple reconstruction can be done once the newly constructed breast has assumed its final shape.
