Healing from this intricate surgery will take time but the results can make a world of difference in the appearance and quality of life of people living with facial abnormalities due to birth defects, injuries or tumor removal.
The reconstruction process is complicated, requiring the skills of a plastic surgeon and a neurosurgeon to address the skeletal system as well as the nerves and facial skin. Results can be quite dramatic, giving patients a more positive outlook and self-image.
