Medical Skincare Clinic

Medical Skincare is skincare treatment designed to correct problematic skin and a variety of skin disorders.

Skin disorders range from acne to hyperpigmentation and signs of aging. Medical Skincare differs from traditional facials because it is therapeutic, as opposed to being aesthetic. We utilize pharmaceutical medications in combination with mechanical procedures that are only available in physicians’ offices.

UCI Plastic Surgery is pleased to offer Medical Skincare services in our Manchester Pavilion Suite. Consultation and treatments are provided by Mary Ann Cardoza, our licensed aesthetician, using the BioMedic skincare product line, available only through physician offices. Services include the MicroPeel and MicroPeel Plus. Home facial products are also available for purchase.

Treatments We Offer

All of our aesthetic treatments are designed to give visible results. They will effectively help to reduce the depth of surface lines, smooth rough skin texture, help fade brown spots and assist in clearing acne and blemished skin. The naturally-occurring AHAs (fruit acids) in the treatments will loosen the dead cells from the skin’s surface. This allows the healthier skin cells to come through, giving a smoother texture to your skin and a glowing, radiant appearance. There is minimal or no downtime involved in Medical Skincare treatments.

Microdermabrasion

A non-invasive, non-surgical technique to safely exfoliate the skin without chemicals or laser. Aluminum oxide crystals are projected onto the skin and immediately vacuumed via a closed system to resurface superficial layers of the skin. A series of microdermabrasion peels, such as Dermasweep, can improve: scarring, fine lines, moderate wrinkles, pigmentation problems, uneven tones and dull, lifeless and sun-damaged skin. The removal of the skin layers triggers the production.

Chemical Peels

Our patients choose chemical peels to treat many types of superficial skin conditions that can be bothersome and that make your skin look aged or unhealthy. Chemical peels can be used to improve the health and appearance of the skin on your face, neck, chest and hands. More than one million chemical peels were performed in 2010 to treat skin issues such as:

  • Rough or dry skin
  • Dull complexion
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Blemishes
We also offer a full line of skincare products, including the popular ZO and PCA brands.

ZO® Peels

We offer the professional-level peels from the trusted skincare brand, ZO Skin Health, Inc. As a ZO products specialist, Mary Ann Cardoza can help choose the right ZO peel for your skin based on your unique skin type and concerns. These peels can provide your skin with incredible age-fighting benefits and improved skin health from the inside-out. Mary Ann performs the following ZO peels:

  • ZO® Controlled Depth Peel™: A highly advanced, in-office-only procedure, recommended for use when scarring, severe laxity, severe texture damage, and advanced melasma are of concern. Sedation may be required.
  • ZO® 3 - Step Peel™: An innovative, in-office treatment peel targeting melasma, acne, fine lines, rough texture, large pores and dullness, followed by an at-home treatment that produces longer lasting results than ordinary peels. Suitable for all skin types.
  • ZO Stimulator Peel: This peel offers mild exfoliation, resurfacing and texture improvement used to enhance skin smoothness and tone. No downtime.

Anti-Aging Treatments

Helps to prevent premature aging, dramatically improves fine lines and wrinkles. This peel contains natural hormones and vitamins to provide freshening and moisturizing properties to aging skin. The final result will be plump, hydrated and ultra soft skin.

Acne/Rosacea Treatments

An antibacterial and anti-inflammatory treatment designed to exfoliate and heal the skin of internal and external factors attributed to acne. This treatment will help to repair and reduce breakouts, control oil, unclog pores and soften skin texture.

Pigment Control Treatments

Produce a lightening, tightening, brightening effect on your skin. These patented and proven light-to-medium peel formulas effectively exfoliate, bleach and inhibit pigment production. There is a formula available for more sensitive skin types (ethnic skin) and those allergic to hydroquinone.

Pumpkin Peel Beta-C Mask Treatments

This treatment exfoliates and draws impurities out of the skin while introducing vitamins, enzymes and nutrients into the skin. It is an excellent treatment to stimulate circulation, promote healing and provide vitamin nutrition. It has the highest concentration of natural vitamins A, C and beta-carotene. This treatment can serve as an alternate between other peels.

TCA Peel for Dramatic Wrinkling, Sun Damage, or Acne

Contains 20% TCA (trichloroacetic acid), 10% lactic acid. This formulation offers the excellent results of a medium depth peel without the traditional discomfort and irritation. It will help to reduce sagging, wrinkling and uneven pigmented skin. There is little to no down time.

We also offer a full line of take-home skincare products and can make personalized recommendations to help you find the products right for you.
