Hope’s love for medicine started at a very young age. She was raised in a medical family with an orthopedic surgeon father and nurse mother where “medical talk” was regular dinner conversation.
Family weekends often included her father bringing her along for rounds in the hospital.
During summers as a young adult, Hope volunteered at hospitals and worked as a medical assistant/EMT. She was first exposed to the physician assistant profession when her father mentored and trained PA students during their clinical orthopedic rotations.
Seeing how PAs served as an integral part of the medical team inspired Hope to study biological sciences and Spanish at the University of Denver.
She then proceeded to physician assistant school at the University of St. Francis in Albuquerque, NM. During PA school, her mother was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Her interest in plastic surgery grew after she saw firsthand how breast reconstruction improved her mother’s body image following a double mastectomy. She became interested in how a medical specialty could make a patient feel complete again.
Having now worked in plastic surgery since 2019, her interests include nipple and areola tattooing, medical grade skin care & lasers, and assisting in the operating room. Both in and outside of work, Hope is a wellness enthusiast and makes every attempt to bring a positive attitude with her friends/family/patients on their wellness journey. In addition to being passionate about an active lifestyle, she also loves to travel the world with her husband and spend time with her dog Mr. Woofington.
