Be Bright-Eyed With Blepharoplasty

It should come as no surprise that eyes are one of the first features that others notice about you. Unfortunately, eyes are also one of the first places to age. As the years pass, both the shape and form of our eyes change. Aging affects both the upper and lower lids. Just as upper eyelid droop, so does the lower lid. A sagging lower lid can make one appear tired and even sad. Blepharoplasty can help! Designed to improve the appearance of aging and drooping eyelids, Blepharoplasty rejuvenates your eyes and overall facial appeal. This fall, let our skilled team of surgeons help you look bright-eyed.

Aging Eyes

As we age, our eyes appear aged and weary. The thin and delicate skin around the eyes loses elasticity sooner than fattier parts of the face—making eyes more prone to wrinkling and sagging. Signs that you are ready for eyelid surgery include heavy eyelids, difficulty applying eye makeup (especially eye shadow and eye liner), and obstruction of vision.

Blepharoplasty, more commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure targeting and correcting common age-related eye ailments such as:

  • Under eye bags, hollows, and puffiness
  • Drooping and sagging skin on and around the eyelid
  • Excess fat pockets that develop around the eyes

Whereas other surgeries may be fully cosmetic, for many, Blepharoplasty proves to be a functional and necessary operation. As skin droops, many find that their vision is obstructed. Blepharoplasty helps remedy this by removing and tightening skin—allowing you to see fully and clearly. Similarly, as the eye’s functionality is crucial, our surgeons are careful to construct a surgery around your physical and structural needs.

To help ensure your comfort during the two to three hour procedure, you will be put under local anesthesia. To begin, your surgeon carefully places an incision following either the eyelids natural crease or just below the lower lash line. Through the precisely placed incision, your surgeon is able to remove and reposition underlying fat, tissue, and muscle. To finish, your doctor will drape the overlying skin—trimming any excess skin that is present.

Natural Rejuvenation

We understand the importance of creating a natural look. We want you to look like you. Using a customized approach, your surgeon enhances the natural beauty of your eyes by carefully contouring and reshaping the eye area. Striving to create the most organic look possible, your doctor will minimize scarring by expertly placing the incision in the eyelids natural crease.

Relaxed Recovery

Eyelid surgery is a relatively simple and easy way to refresh your look. As with any surgical procedure, minor side effects such as mild pain, swelling, and bruising may occur. For a few days following Blepharoplasty, it is common for patients to experience dry eyes and blurred vision. With side effects usually subsiding within a week, most patients are able to return to work and their normal routine within a couple of weeks. Most feel it takes about one year for results to fully finalize.
